Call product-market fit

Can the model tell real product-market fit from a blended survey, a launch spike or a flattering metric, and say where to scale?

Task type v1.1 · 2 tasksLast changed 6 Oct 2026 · ChangelogDifficulty

What AI gets right here, and what you’ll still have to catch

From 18 graded outputs by 9 models. 50% were usable with at most a quick edit.

Reliably right

  1. Respects explicit constraints100% pass
    The output is a memo addressed to Sam, within 1,200 words, and respects the form and length requirements.
    GPT-6 Astra · ChatGPT · 38%, and the retention that isn't
  2. Finds who it's a must-have for100% pass
    It identifies recruiters as the must-have segment, noting what they value (candidate summaries, ATS scorecards, focus on the candidate) and builds the plan around them.
    GPT-6 Astra · ChatGPT · 38%, and the retention that isn't
  3. Spots false fit100% pass
    The memo calls out the August promotional MRR spike, the active-definition change, and the early erosion as misleading signs of fit.
    GPT-6 Astra · ChatGPT · 38%, and the retention that isn't

Where it slips

  1. Uses the supplied evidence correctly31% pass
    The claim that the cohort jumps line up with the August 3 definition change is not supported; the jumps occur in the week of July 27–August 2, one week before the change, so the evidence is misused.
    GPT-6.1 Sol · API · 38%, and the retention that isn't
  2. Gets the base of every number right47% pass
    The month-6 retention percentages are computed from incorrect sums and denominators, so the base is wrong.
    GPT-6 Luna · API · Do we have fit, or a spike?
  3. Avoids unsupported claims50% pass
    The output presents the jump alignment with the calendar change as fact, but the data shows the jump a week earlier, making it an unsupported claim.
    GPT-6.1 Sol · API · 38%, and the retention that isn't

How it’s graded

Each check is built on how world-class product and growth leaders do this work, as they’ve described it on Lenny’s Podcast, and names the leader it comes from.

  1. Judges fit by retention, not sign-ups

    Does the call on product-market fit rest on whether retention curves flatten, segment by segment, rather than on sign-ups, revenue growth or a survey alone?

    Passes when Reads retention by segment from the data and lets it decide where fit exists, with the survey as supporting evidence.

  2. Finds who it's a must-have for

    Does the output profile the users who would be very disappointed without the product, and aim the plan at them and at the users closest to them?

    Passes when Names the segment or persona where the product is a must-have, what they value, and builds the plan around them.

  3. Spots false fit

    Does the output catch evidence that looks like fit but isn't, such as revenue won through custom work, a launch spike, a promotion, or a metric whose definition changed?

    Passes when Names each piece of flattering evidence in the material and explains why it isn't fit.

  4. Doesn't scale before fit

    Does the recommendation avoid pouring spend or headcount into segments that haven't shown fit, and say what would justify scaling them later?

    Passes when Scales only where fit is shown, and sets the evidence that would justify widening.

Plus our standard checks

Uses the supplied evidence correctly · Addresses the actual decision · Respects explicit constraints · Identifies material uncertainty · Avoids unsupported claims · Produces the required deliverable · Gets the base of every number right · and 3 written for each task, which you’ll see in the tasks below.

The tasks

Read the brief, then compare up to three outputs, each with the LLM judge’s verdict on every check. Highlights mark what a PM had to fix.

The brief

You're the VP Product at Minutely. Our CEO, Sam Okafor, plans to send the draft investor update below next week to open our Series A, and to hire six account executives with the money. Sam has asked you to check it. Write a memo for Sam of no more than 1,200 words: do we have product-market fit, and for whom; what in the draft is right and what isn't; what we should tell investors instead; and where the new money should go. Everything we have is attached. The files are as the teams exported them.

What the model was given8 items: About Minutely, draft_investor_update.md, pmf_survey.csv (in-app survey, September), weekly_active_by_cohort.csv (product analytics dashboard export), core_action_by_persona.csv (share of each sign-up month who shared a summary in week 4 and week 8), mrr.csv, analytics_changelog.md, market_notes.md
About MinutelyAI meeting notes: joins your calls, writes the summary, and pushes it to your tools. Free plan, Pro ($18 per user per month) and Team ($30). 41,000 weekly active users.

# Draft investor update (CEO)

We've hit product-market fit. 38% of users say they'd be very disappointed without Minutely, right at the 40% bar, and retention is improving fast: our newest cohorts are far stickier than June's. MRR grew 28% in August.

Plan for the round: hire six account executives to sell Team plans into enterprise engineering organisations, where the seat counts are biggest.

What a strong answer doesThe answer key the graders mark against

Says Minutely has fit with recruiters and probably sales teams, not with everyone, and that the draft overstates it in three ways. (1) The survey: 38% is a blend that includes 90 people who've used Minutely for under two weeks (11% very disappointed); among established users it's 47%, and by persona 62% of recruiters and 49% of sales users against 24% of engineers. The case for fit is stronger and narrower than the draft says. (2) Retention isn't 'improving fast': from 3 August 'active' includes opening the summary email, so every cohort's curve jumps about 14 points that week, and August cohorts only look stickier because of the definition. On the consistent core action (shared a summary), week-8 retention is flat across June to August for each persona, and September cohorts' week-4 retention fell (recruiters 66 to 57, sales 51 to 44) after Zoom launched free notes on 8 September: an early erosion signal the draft ignores. (3) August's 28% MRR growth is mostly the Team annual prepay promotion at 40% off (new MRR $63,800 against about $21,500 in a normal month), not demand. Recommends not hiring AEs to sell into enterprise engineering, the persona with the weakest fit and the most exposure to Zoom; put the money into recruiters and sales teams (integrations with ATS and CRM, where value is specific). Rewrites the investor message honestly (strong fit in a named segment, with the consistent retention numbers) and fixes the active-user definition.

Critical failures (cap the score at 40)
  • Endorses sending the draft's claim that retention is improving fast
  • Recommends hiring the six AEs to sell into enterprise engineering organisations

To: Sam Okafor, CEO From: VP Product Date: October 2, 2026 Subject: Urgent Review: Series A Investor Update & Capital Allocation Plan

Sam,

I reviewed the draft investor update and the underlying data exports across Product, Growth, and Finance. We should not send this update as written, nor should we hire six enterprise AEs to target engineering.

If we pitch the metrics in your draft, a Series A diligence team will quickly uncover that our recent retention and MRR spikes were driven by an analytics definition change and a temporary discount—and that our retention actually dropped in September after Zoom launched free AI meeting notes.

However, beneath the blended averages, we have undeniable, world-class product-market fit in a different segment: Recruiting, followed closely by Sales. We have a strong Series A story, provided we pivot our narrative and capital toward the users who truly need us.

---

1. Do We Have Product-Market Fit, and For Whom?

Blended across all 360 responses, our Superhuman PMF score (“very disappointed” without Minutely) is 38.3% (138/360). Because 24% of our survey respondents are in their first week (0–1 weeks active), filtering for active users who have actually experienced the product (2+ weeks tenure, n=273) pushes our overall score to 46.2% (126/273). Among paying users (Pro/Team, n=187), it is 50.3%.

However, averaging across personas hides a massive divergence. We do not have a horizontal product; we have a vertical workflow product:

PersonaAll Respondents (n=360)Tenure 2+ Weeks (n=273)Paying Users: Pro/Team (n=187)Wk 4 / Wk 8 Core Action (Jun–Aug)Primary Value / Alternative
:---:---:---:---:---:---
Recruiter55.7% (54/97)67.6% (50/74)67.9% (38/56)66% / 58%Auto-filling ATS scorecards; focusing on candidates. ("Nothing does this as well")
Sales37.8% (45/119)48.3% (42/87)51.6% (32/62)50% / 41%Pushing notes to CRM; saving 1 hr/day. Alternatives: CRM notes, Gong.
Founder29.7% (22/74)35.8% (19/53)44.1% (15/34)39% / 30%Board/investor notes; "Nice to have". Alternatives: Zoom, Otter, "I'd manage".
Engineer24.3% (17/70)25.4% (15/59)25.7% (9/35)18% / 12%Standup summaries; "Not much". Alternatives: "I don't really need notes", Zoom.
  • We have exceptional PMF with Recruiters (67.6% among 2+ week users) and strong PMF with Sales (48.3%). Why? Because their jobs require pushing structured data into an external system of record (ATS or CRM) immediately after a call.
  • We do NOT have PMF with Engineers (24.3%) or Founders (29.7%). For them, Minutely is a passive transcription tool. Over half of engineers say they value "not much" or find it only "occasionally useful," and their core action rate (sharing a summary) is just 12% by Week 8.

---

2. What in the Draft is Right—and What Isn’t

What is right: * We are right at the 40% PMF bar overall (38.3% raw, 46.2% tenured), and our paying users love the product (50.3% PMF).

What is wrong (and dangerous in diligence): 1. “Retention is improving fast: our newest cohorts are far stickier than June's.” False. On August 3, Growth changed the definition of an "Active User" to include opening the daily summary email alongside app actions. In `weeklyactivebycohort.csv`, this created an artificial ~13–14 percentage point step-up across every single cohort simultaneously on the exact diagonal corresponding to August 3 (Week 9 for the June 1 cohort jumps from 25.7% to 38.6%; Week 8 for June 8 jumps from 27.4% to 39.6%; Week 1 for July 27 jumps from 62.3% to 76.2%). Looking at our backfilled, clean metric (`coreactionbypersona.csv`—sharing a summary), cohort retention was completely flat from June through August. 2. September retention and the "Zoom Effect" are missing. On September 8, Zoom announced free AI meeting notes for all paid plans. Immediately, our September 7 and September 14 cohorts dropped by ~9.5 percentage points in Week 1 active rates (from ~76% down to ~66.8%) and ~7.5 points in Week 2 (from ~62% to ~54.3%). Furthermore, Week 4 core action rates fell across all personas in September—most severely in Engineers (-19% relative drop) and Founders (-14%). Generic note-taking is now commoditized by Zoom. 3. “MRR grew 28% in August.” Misleading without context. MRR grew from $196k to $251k (+28.1%) in August solely because we ran a 40%-off annual prepay promotion on Team plans, spiking New MRR to $63.8k. In September, New MRR reverted to $21.5k (inline with June's $21.0k and July's $22.1k), while Churned MRR rose to $10.5k (from $7.4k in June). September net MRR growth was just 4.4% ($262k total). 4. “Hire six AEs to sell Team plans into enterprise engineering.” Fatal strategy. Engineering has our lowest PMF (24%), lowest usage (12% Wk 8 sharing), and highest vulnerability to free bundled tools like Zoom. Hiring six AEs to sell a $30/seat tool to engineers who explicitly say "I don't really need notes" will burn our Series A cash with zero return.

---

3. What We Should Tell Investors Instead

Investors will respect us if we proactively separate the commodity market (generic notes) from our high-margin moat (automated workflow execution into systems of record).

Proposed Revised Investor Update: > "Minutely has reached $262k MRR ($3.14M ARR) and 41,000 WAUs, and our September data shows exactly where our moat lies. While our blended PMF survey score is 38% (and 46% among users active 2+ weeks), disaggregating by persona reveals massive pull in workflow-heavy roles: 68% of tenured Recruiters and 48% of Sales users would be 'very disappointed' without Minutely, compared to 25% of Engineers. > > Why? On September 8, Zoom bundled free AI notes into paid plans. While this compressed September activation among casual, internal-meeting note-takers (like Engineers), our core power users remain locked in because Zoom cannot auto-populate an ATS scorecard or update custom CRM fields. From June through August, 58% of Recruiters and 41% of Sales reps actively shared summaries in Week 8. > > After a promotional test in August boosted MRR by 28% (to $251k), organic net MRR grew to $262k in September. We are raising our Series A to double down on where we win: transitioning from a horizontal meeting note-taker into the default AI workflow engine for Recruiting and Revenue teams."

---

4. Where the New Money Should Go

Instead of six enterprise engineering AEs, we should allocate the Series A capital across three areas:

1. Product & Integrations (50% of new hires — Integrations & AI Engineers): * Deepen the ATS/CRM Moat: Recruiters value "Scorecards fill themselves" and "Candidate summaries straight into our ATS." Sales reps value "CRM notes after every call" and "Follow-up emails drafted." We must build deep, bi-directional, two-click integrations with Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Salesforce, and HubSpot. * Persona-Specific Onboarding: Drop generic sign-up flows. Route Recruiters and Sales users directly into connecting their ATS/CRM during onboarding to reverse the September activation dip. 2. Focused Go-To-Market (30% of capital — 2 Mid-Market AEs + PLG/Partner Marketing): * Hire two AEs focused strictly on converting existing Pro Recruiting and Sales users into Team accounts (we already have dozens of Pro advocates inside companies who can champion Team rollouts). * Invest in ecosystem marketing within ATS/CRM marketplaces rather than cold outbound to engineering leaders. 3. Fix Analytics & Pricing Architecture (20% of capital / Immediate Operational Priority): * Revert the "Active User" metric immediately to exclude passive email opens so our dashboards reflect real product health. * Stop 40% discounting on Team plans. Instead, gate deep ATS scorecard automation and CRM field-mapping at the Pro/Team tiers. Recruiters and Sales reps are comparing us to manual data entry or Gong ($100+/seat/month)—at $30/seat, we have immense pricing power if we own their post-call workflow.

Let’s discuss this afternoon so we can adjust the deck and metrics before next week's outreach.

The memo is well-structured and actionable; the only inaccuracy is the overstatement about the share-of-summary drop for engineers, which can be fixed with a quick edit.

To: Sam Okafor From: VP Product Re: Draft investor update and Series A plan

Bottom line

We have product-market fit with recruiters, probably with sales, and not with engineers or founders. The draft's three claims fail in different ways. The 38% figure is correct but hides the real story. "Retention is improving fast" is an artefact of a metric change. The August MRR jump is mostly a promotion. The six-AE plan targets our weakest segment, just as Zoom starts giving away what that segment uses us for. I would not send the draft, and I would not hire six AEs.

Product-market fit, and for whom

The September survey has 360 responses. 137 said "very disappointed", which is 38.1%, so the draft's number is right. It is below the 40% bar, not "right at" it, and it is a blend of very different groups:

PersonanVery disappointedShared a summary, wk 4 → wk 8 (Jun–Aug signups)What they'd do instead
Recruiter10054%66% → 58%Type notes, ATS notes, "nothing does this as well" (none mention Zoom)
Sales12039%~50% → ~41%CRM notes, Gong, typing (none mention Zoom)
Founder7532%~39% → ~30%Zoom, Otter, "I'd manage"
Engineer6518%~18% → ~12%Zoom, nothing, "don't need notes"
  • Recruiters: 54% on n=100 is roughly 44–64% at 95% confidence, so even the low end clears 40%. Their stated value is workflow output: "candidate summaries straight into our ATS" and "scorecards fill themselves". Paying recruiters look the same as free ones (10 of 19 Team recruiters are "very disappointed"). Their week-8 sharing rate is the best we have, and it is stable across June, July and August signups.
  • Sales: 39% on n=120 is borderline. They value time saved and CRM notes, but Gong and CRM-native notes are real substitutes.
  • Engineers: Only 1 of the 8 Team-plan engineers is "very disappointed". The most common value they give is "not much". Their fallback is Zoom's notes, which is now free.

Caveats: - The survey is in-app, so churned users never saw it. Every number is somewhat flattering. - Persona is self-reported and was only added on 14 July. - I don't know the persona mix of our 41,000 WAU, so the pooled 38% could move either way.

The draft, claim by claim

"38%, right at the 40% bar." The arithmetic is right, but the framing is wrong. Investors who ask for the segment cut will see 54% / 39% / 32% / 18% immediately. Better that we show it first.

"Retention is improving fast: newest cohorts far stickier than June's." This is not true. On 3 August we changed "active user" to include opening the daily summary email (Growth's request). Every cohort measured from that date jumped by about 14 points at every week. You can see it as a diagonal in the cohort table: - The June 1 cohort goes from 25.7% at week 8 to 38.6% at week 9. - Each later cohort jumps in the same calendar week. - Cohorts measured entirely before the change match June's: week 3 is 39.9% for the 6 July cohort versus 39.6% for 1 June. - On a like-for-like basis, retention is flat from June to August.

The newest cohorts are actually weaker. The two September cohorts (7 and 14 Sept) are 4–10 points below August's on the same definition: week 1 is 67% versus 76%, and week 4 is 44% versus 48.5%. Share-of-summary also dropped about 6–9 points in every persona for September signups. Zoom announced free notes on 8 September, and the first affected cohort is the week of 7 September. That is two cohorts and may not hold, but it is the right thing to worry about.

The same definition change affects the 41,000 WAU headline. Any WAU figure from August onward is not comparable with earlier figures. Data should restate it on the old definition before an investor does.

"MRR grew 28% in August." The arithmetic is right (196k to 251k). But new MRR was $63.8k, against a normal $21–22k, during a 40%-off annual-prepay Team promotion that ran only in August. Roughly $42k of the $55k net add looks promotion-driven. Excluding it, August growth was about 7%, in line with June–July. September then slowed to 4.4% ($21.5k new, $10.5k churned). Churned MRR has risen every month and is at its highest in September. The promo accounts also won't face a full-price renewal for a year. The cash is real, but it is not evidence of demand.

"Six AEs to sell Team into enterprise engineering orgs." Engineers are our lowest-conviction persona (18%). They are also the group whose alternative is free Zoom notes, and two Team customers have already asked whether they still need us. Enterprise engineering seat counts are big, but we have no evidence these buyers want the product.

What to tell investors instead

Suggested replacement:

> "Minutely has clear product-market fit with recruiters: 54% would be very disappointed without us (n=100), and 58% still share summaries at week 8. Sales is promising at 39%. Across all users the figure is 38%, because engineers (18%) and founders (32%) are weaker. We're focusing the company on recruiting first. Retention is stable across cohorts (we changed our active-user definition in August and have restated). MRR is $262k. August's 28% included a one-off Team annual-prepay promotion; underlying growth is roughly 5–7% a month. Zoom's free notes launched 8 September. Our early September cohorts are softer and we're tracking it. Our advantage is in delivering output into the ATS and CRM, not in generating summaries."

Investors will see the definition change and the promotion in diligence anyway. Disclosing them ourselves protects our credibility, and the recruiter result is a strong story.

Where the money should go

I'd stage this rather than commit to the full hiring plan up front. I haven't seen the round size, so these are proportions.

  1. Recruiter product depth (largest share). This means more ATS integrations, scorecard accuracy and reliability of pushing summaries into the ATS. It is the thing recruiters value most and Zoom can't easily copy.
  2. Recruiter go-to-market (second share). Hire 1–2 sellers focused on talent-acquisition teams and recruiting agencies, plus lifecycle marketing. The test is whether Team sells to recruiting teams at full price. Add more AEs only once that works.
  3. Sales persona. Make CRM write-back clearly better than CRM-native notes and Gong's. Decide in two quarters whether it is a second wedge.
  4. Measurement. One analytics owner to run a stable activity definition, retention by persona and plan, and revenue and churn by persona.
  5. Engineers and founders. Keep them on self-serve and free plans. No enterprise sales spend.

Open items before this goes out

  • Restated WAU and retention on the old definition (Data).
  • MRR, conversion and churn by persona, which we don't have yet. This decides whether recruiters pay at the rate their love of the product suggests.
  • A weekly read on the September cohorts and on Zoom-related churn or downgrades, starting with the two Team accounts that asked.
  • Survey response rate and how users were selected for the prompt.
  • A check on persona coverage for June signups. Persona was added on 14 July, so the June figures in the core-action table need a note on how they were backfilled.

I'm happy to rewrite the update with you this week.

Claims the judge couldn’t find in the brief

MEMORANDUM

TO: Sam Okafor, CEO FROM: VP Product DATE: September 28, 2026 SUBJECT: Series A Strategy: PMF Reality, Narrative Audit, and Capital Allocation

*

Executive Summary

We should not send the draft investor update in its current form, nor should we hire six enterprise engineering account executives.

While our top-line metrics look promising at a surface glance, digging into the cohort logs, survey responses, and changelogs reveals three critical truths: 1. We do not have product-market fit across the board, and we have virtually none in engineering. Our true PMF is concentrated almost entirely in Recruiting and Talent Acquisition, with secondary traction in Sales. 2. Our retention "improvement" is an analytics illusion, and our August MRR surge was a one-time promo. Re-defining active users to include email opens artificially lifted August cohort curves, while underlying core engagement fell in September following Zoom’s bundled AI release. 3. Targeting enterprise engineering orgs will burn our Series A. Engineers neither need nor value meeting notes (12% 8-week core engagement).

If we pitch engineering seat expansion, sophisticated Series A diligence will tear our metrics apart. Instead, we must present Minutely as the vertical AI workflow platform for recruiting, where we have undeniable PMF, defensibility against Zoom, and rapid organic adoption.

---

1. Product-Market Fit: Who Loves Us (and Who Doesn’t)

Our overall survey PMF score sits at 38% ("very disappointed"), just shy of Sean Ellis’s 40% rule of thumb. However, aggregate PMF is misleading because our user base is segmented across four distinct personas with starkly different realities:

``` Persona Survey PMF ("Very Disappointed") W8 Core Action Retention (Summary Shared) Recruiter ~58% 58% Sales ~42% 41% Founder ~28% 30% Engineer ~16% 12% ```
  • Recruiters (Clear PMF): Over 58% of surveyed recruiters would be very disappointed without Minutely. They share summaries at an astonishing 58% rate in Week 8. Their qualitative answers are unambiguous: "Candidate summaries straight into our ATS," "Scorecards fill themselves," and "I can focus on the candidate." When asked what they’d use instead, their top answer is "Nothing does this as well" or "Back to typing notes." They don't view us as a transcription gadget; we are their candidate evaluation workflow.
  • Sales (Moderate PMF, High Competition): Sales reps value our CRM syncing and follow-up drafting, but they actively view Gong and native CRM notes as direct substitutes.
  • Founders (Weak PMF): Founders find board and investor notes "nice to have," but easily substitute us with Otter or Zoom.
  • Engineers (No PMF): Half of all engineers report they would not be disappointed if Minutely disappeared. Only 12% share a summary by Week 8. Their most common feedback is "I don't really need notes," "Not much," or "Zoom's notes." Daily standups are brief, and code commits/Jira tickets are their source of truth.
2. Audit of the Draft Update: What’s Right vs. What Isn’t
Draft ClaimAssessmentReality & Diligence Risk
:---:---:---
"We've hit product-market fit (38%... right at the 40% bar)."Misleading38% aggregate conceals that half our base has zero fit, while one vertical (Recruiting) is well past PMF (>58%). Pitching aggregate PMF invites investors to slice the data and find engineering churn.
"Retention is improving fast: our newest cohorts are far stickier than June's."Factually FalseOn August 3, Growth changed the active user definition to include opening the daily summary email. That single instrument change caused every active cohort to instantly jump ~13 percentage points in calendar week 32. True engagement (sharing summaries) actually declined in September.
"MRR grew 28% in August."Contextually MisleadingAugust MRR jumped from $196k to $251k driven by a 40% off annual prepay promotion. In September, MRR growth collapsed to 4.4% ($262k), New MRR reverted to baseline ($21.5k), and churn reached an all-time high of $10.5k. Presenting August as baseline growth will be flagged in diligence as revenue pull-forward.
"Hire six AEs to sell Team plans into enterprise engineering organisations."Disastrous StrategyEnterprise engineering has the lowest core action retention (12%), lowest PMF (16%), and lowest willingness to pay. Selling here guarantees prolonged sales cycles, heavy discounts, and catastrophic net revenue retention (NRR).
---
3. The Elephant in the Room: Zoom’s Free AI Notes
On September 8, Zoom released free AI notes for all paid tiers. The fallout was immediate: * Our Week 1 cohort retention dropped from ~76% in August to 66.5% in September. * Week 4 core action sharing dropped across all personas in September (Recruiters fell from 66% to 57%; Engineers fell to 15%). * Multiple Team accounts are already questioning renewals.
Strategic takeaway: Generic AI transcription and summarization is now a zero-price commodity. Zoom has won standups and generic team catch-ups. Our only defensible moat is vertical workflow integration where Zoom cannot compete. Zoom will not map candidate interview responses to a structured scorecard in Greenhouse or Ashby. Recruiters will pay $30/seat for that alone.
---
4. What We Should Tell Investors Instead
We should reframe our Series A narrative around an intentional, data-backed strategic pivot:
  1. The Headline: Minutely is transitioning from a horizontal meeting assistant into the AI-powered intelligence platform for Recruiting and Talent Acquisition.
  2. The Traction: In our recruiter wedge, we have elite SaaS fundamentals: 58% PMF score, 58% Week 8 workflow retention, and a bottom-up PLG flywheel (interview scorecards shared with hiring managers create inbound demand across the enterprise).
  3. The Competitive Moat: Address Zoom head-on. While Zoom commoditizes generic notes, Minutely captures high-value recruiting workflows: automated ATS enrichment, scorecard completion, bias-audited interview transcription, and candidate tracking.
  4. Honest Unit Economics: Frame the August promotion transparently: it proved strong willingness for teams to lock in annual contracts, establishing that our future lies in annual enterprise Team packages centered around talent teams.
---
5. Where the Series A Money Should Go
Cancel the plan to hire six engineering-focused AEs. Instead, allocate the capital across three pillars:
#### A. Product & Integrations (50% of budget) * Deep ATS Integrations: Build two-way sync for Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, and Workday. Summaries and competency ratings must populate directly into ATS candidate profiles. * Structured Scorecard Automation: Convert interview transcripts into tailored rubric evaluations based on company-specific job scorecards. * Enterprise Compliance & Redaction: Automated PII and bias masking (EEO compliance), which talent leaders require before purchasing Team plans.
#### B. Verticalized Go-To-Market (35% of budget) * Hire 2 Enterprise AEs + 1 SDR specializing in HR Tech / Talent Acquisition: Target Heads of Talent, VP of People, and Recruiting Ops where deal velocity and ACVs are high. * PLG Viral Expansion Loop: When recruiters share candidate evaluation scorecards with engineering hiring managers, use that touchpoint as an organic acquisition funnel to expand Minutely seats across hiring teams.
#### C. Customer Success & Implementation (15% of budget) * Hire 1 Dedicated Solutions Engineer / Implementation Lead: Help talent orgs configure ATS webhooks and custom scorecards within 48 hours of onboarding, ensuring high Day-30 retention and zero churn.
---
Summary Recommendation
Let’s revise the draft update this week. We have a compelling, authentic story for Series A investors: we discovered a massive, high-margin, sticky vertical in Recruiting that insulates us from Big Tech commoditization. Let's raise our Series A on that winning wedge.
All factual statements about the current situation are taken from the supplied data or calculated directly from it.
Sonnet 5.5 · API
The claim that share-of-summary dropped 6-9 points in every persona is inaccurate for Engineers (drop is 3 points), so not all statements about the current situation are fully supported.
Gemini 3.8 Flash · API
Persona PMF percentages are incorrect (e.g., Recruiter 54% not 58%) and the claim about engineering willingness to pay is unsupported.
Gemini 4 Argon · API
It does not name the unknowns (e.g., whether the September cohort erosion is lasting, how much of the drop is seasonal vs. Zoom) or state what result would change the recommendation.
Sonnet 5.5 · API
It names unknowns (persona mix of WAU, survey response rate, September cohort durability, MRR by persona) and says what would change the call (e.g., add AEs only once recruiter Team sales work).
Gemini 3.8 Flash · API
The memo does not name specific unknowns that could change the decision or say how they would be resolved.
Avoids unsupported claimsWrongRightWrong
Gemini 4 Argon · API
It presents the September retention drop and Zoom's launch as a causal story ('commoditized by Zoom') without labelling the interpretation, and does not hedge the promotional MRR spike as a likely cause rather than an established sole cause.
Sonnet 5.5 · API
Interpretations and causes are labelled as such (e.g., 'may not hold', 'looks promotion-driven'), and confident claims are backed by data.
Gemini 3.8 Flash · API
Interpretations like 'lowest willingness to pay' and 'Zoom has won standups' are presented as fact without being labelled as hypotheses.
Unpicks the 38%RightWrongWrong
Gemini 4 Argon · API
It separates new users (0-1 weeks) from tenured users and breaks the PMF score down by persona, showing 68% for recruiters vs. 25% for engineers.
Sonnet 5.5 · API
The memo breaks down 38% by persona but does not separate users by tenure (under two weeks vs established) to show how new users dilute the figure.
Gemini 3.8 Flash · API
The memo does not separate users by tenure (e.g., under two weeks vs. established) to show how new users dilute the 38%.
Gets the base of every number rightMixedWrongWrong
Gemini 4 Argon · API
All derived percentages are computed correctly from the data (e.g., 138/360 = 38.3%, 126/273 = 46.2%, step‑change percentages match the table).
Sonnet 5.5 · API
The claim that share-of-summary dropped 6-9 points in every persona is incorrect for Engineers (drop is 3 points), so a derived figure is not accurate.
Gemini 3.8 Flash · API
Persona PMF percentages are miscalculated (e.g., Recruiter 54% not 58%), so derived figures do not check out.
